I’m excited for this summer for a number of reasons, but primarily I think I am looking forward to getting my game into “beta” testing status. I do still have a bit more writing to do, but I think the alpha stages are almost complete and once I have more time to devote to the project, I’m confident we’ll be able to play test the game soon.
With that in mind, I’m searching for inspiration to lock down the symbol for the whole thing. The game itself–Song of the Pale Stone–is cast from the pages of a mythic society (whose name is as of yet undisclosed… I want to preserve my domain rights), and I want the society’s symbol to be a simple yet iconic looking stamp of identity for the society (in its fictional sense) and physically for the game as a whole (something that will be a recognizable “trademark” icon for the game).
My own concept of the societal symbol is that it would resemble the Pax Romana symbol, or perhaps a simpler version of the Freemason symbol (something similar conceptually, but without the obvious compass-ruler thing). I’m looking for something that is easy to conceptualize, duplicate, and, well, draw–but still have an iconic quality to it. Jaime and I have come up with a few ideas thus far in photoshop, and I think we can pull something together soon. In the meantime, I’m on the hunt for interesting shape combinations.
